More about Domenica.....
Domenica Mastromatteo, the artist.
I always had a passion for creating and making. I’ve been drawing and painting and making stuff of beauty for as long as I can remember. My preferred mediums are acrylic and clay. I started painting with acrylics, 25 years ago. I’ve been a potter (working with clay) for 15 years.
But I love to experiment and try new things. I work with many different mediums and especially love to combine these into mixed medium art pieces and inspired home and living items and accessories. I especially love to add my paintings and mixed media art to functional pieces like mugs, canvas totes, t-shirts, purses and always adding more to this list.
As a local West Vancouver artist, I find my inspiration all around me in nature and wildlife; from the crows in Horseshoe Bay to to the beaches surrounding West Vancouver all the way to Deep Cove. My creativity is the sword against “perpetual dullness” that can overcome a woman and mom in our rainy and cloudy months. William Shakespeare wrote, “Sweet love, renew thy force….do not kill the spirit of love with a perpetual dullness…”
Love Affair with Art
I often infuse my love of classic poetry into my artwork; hoping to inspire my spirit with fresh new ideas and perspectives. My love affair with art is the real thing. I find hope and renewal in the thought that my love for art grows deeper with each passing year. It renews my spirit and is the glue that holds together all the different pieces of my life.
Art brings me inpiration, love and peace.
